My name is Reed Perkins. I have been researching my own Clark, Turck, Bonniwell and related Mequon families and their stories since 2006. As an independent genealogist and historian I like to investigate and share the stories of these early Wisconsin pioneers, their relatives, neighbors, friends, and the world in which they lived. And from time to time I write about current events in light of historical precedent and circumstances.
Historical knowledge grows through sharing and collaboration. I invite you to help me as I try and fill in some of the many blank spots in the historical record. I welcome your suggestions, corrections, comments and questions. You can use the Leave A Reply box to post a public comment after any post, or use the Contact link in the masthead to send me a private message.
Ideally, new material is posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; recently, I’m lucky to post more than once or twice a week. If you would like to receive an email announcement each time a new post goes live, please find the Follow Blog Via Email area in the sidebar (or the bottom of smaller screens), enter your email address in the box, and click Follow. If you have any difficulties subscribing, let me know through the Contact link and we’ll try and fix the problem.

I began collaborating with the organizers of the new Jonathan Clark House Museum in Mequon, Wisconsin, in late 2012. From Sept. 25, 2015 to May 15, 2026, I served as the JCH Museum’s official volunteer historian. This blog—begun in March, 2016, and originally titled “Clark House Historian”—was conceived and written in support of my own research and of the mission of the Jonathan Clark House Museum but this website and—unless noted otherwise—its contents and the views expressed, have always been those of the author, Reed Perkins, and do not necessarily represent the official views of the Jonathan Clark House Museum.
